2004 Legler Nafees Denim Limited emerges with a new identity: AZGARD9.
2008 Azgard9 acquires Montebello, an Italian denim company.

A deep connection between the country and textiles comes from long ago. It goes all the way back to the Indus Valley Civilization that grew cotton and made cotton garments more than 5000 years ago. The Indus Valley is now in modern day Pakistan.

The growth of the factories was exponential, especially in Karachi and Punjab. There were already around 180 units dedicated to bleaching, printing and textile processing.

The textile industry suffered significant losses after the separation of East Pakistan. Cotton Export Corporation of Pakistan was established and therefore most of the private sector work was under the state governation.

The eighties registered a major growth in the spinning sector and because of the boom in international market and industry friendly policies of the government, the textile industry was growing further.

The demand for higher quality textile products drove to the modernization of production processes. The import of machinery for the production, and confection of clothing resulted in a great expansion of the spinning sector and Yarn production.

A Country with Green Ambitions

Pakistan is a country with bold green ambitions. The country is deeply committed in transitioning to a greener economy and a cleaner future. By focusing on the plantation of trees, increasing biodiversity and conservation, and developing clean energy.

In 2020, Pakistan has turned these ambitions into reality by already achieving the UN Climate Action Sustainable Development Goal (SFG-13) a decade ahead of the 2030 deadline. The billion tree tsunami program is one of the key green projects already completed as part of achieving this goal.
